BT STEM Crew
Digital STEM education programme
BT STEM Crew is a unique and free online STEM learning programme designed to engage both girls and boys aged 11-16 in biology, physics, maths and design & technology.
BT STEM Crew uses the excitement of Land Rover BAR’s quest to win the America’s Cup to help develop young people’s STEM skills, showcase the vital role STEM skills play in the real world and highlight the career opportunities available.
The package of free resources includes immersive introductory films, interactive quizzes and downloadable worksheets.
Lessons bring to life the real life sport and technology challenges Land Rover BAR face every day in their bid to win the America’s Cup to explain everyday science and maths. For example, students will use speed, distance and time to analyse team performance or learn about the importance of diet and nutrition for crew performance.
BT STEM Crew also gives students the chance to learn about the wide range of professions involved with Land Rover BAR, focusing on how they’ve found fascinating careers after taking qualifications in physics, engineering, maths, boat building, meteorology, computing and many more.
Activities, all accessible via mobile, tablet and desktop and with clear links to the UK national curriculum, are provided for use within Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Design and Technology and Biology classes.
BT STEM Crew was launched by Sir Ben Ainslie with support from BT at an event at the British Museum. It is part of BT’s long-term commitment to build a culture of tech literary for the UK.
