1851 Trust Royal Patron, The Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke of Cambridge will visit Land Rover BAR and The 1851 Trust at the America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth
The Duchess of Cambridge, Royal Patron of the 1851 Trust, accompanied by The Duke of Cambridge will make a return visit to Portsmouth to see the second Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series event to take place in the city.
Their Royal Highnesses will visit the Land Rover BAR base to see the state of the art testing boats; they will also meet some of those driving the advanced design and technology forward to help the team achieve their goal to bring the Cup home. They will then watch the teams from USA, France, New Zealand, Japan, Sweden and Britain compete in three races on the Solent, alongside the thousands of fans watching from the Race Village on Southsea seafront.
Afterwards, they will meet some of the young people involved with the 1851 Trust who have taken part in the Trust’s activity on Thursday 21 July which will see 200 young people come to the Race Village and compete in activities focused on team work, sustainability and the health of our oceans.
The Trust is using this exciting time for the sport in the UK to inspire a new generation into sailing, the marine industry and acting sustainably.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will then head to the main stage to present the event winners with their trophy.
